في أول إصدار له باللغة الإنكليزية بعد عمل7 سنوات من الترجمة والمراجعات، سيُطرح في الأسواق الأوربية والأمريكية وغيرها، يوم 26 اكتوبر 2020، عن دار سيرين الويلزية البريطانية واسعة الانتشار، ديوان “اتركوني أقصُّ لكم ما رأيتُ” مقاطع من “نشيد أوروك”للشاعر العراقي عدنان الصائغ.
“نشيد أوروك” قصيدة طويلة للشاعر ، استغرقتْ كتابتها 12 عاماً (1984-1996).
هذا العمل الضخم حررته الشاعرة جني لويس [استاذة الشعر في جامعة اكسفورد]، وكانت قد بدأت بترجمته مع الشاعرة والكاتبة ربى أبو غيدا مع نخبة من المترجمين العراقيين والعرب، وهم: أماني العبدلي، علي سالم، حسن حجازي، د. إنعام الشريفي، علاء جمعة، صفاء شيخ حمد، إلين بالستن، د. الياس خميس، وآخرين.

About this Event
At this virtual launch, renowned poet Adnan Al-Sayegh and poet and translator Jenny Lewis will present Let Me Tell You What I Saw – the first ever dual language English/ Arabic publication of substantial extracts of Adnan’s epic poem Uruk’s Anthem.
One of the longest poems ever written in Arabic literature, Uruk’s Anthem has been described as beautiful, powerful and courageous and at the same time apocalyptic and terrifying in its unwavering scrutiny of, and opposition to, oppression and dictatorship wherever it occurs in the world.
This event will include readings by Adnan and Jenny in Arabic and English followed by a discussion with Jenny Lewis and Ruba Abughaida about the process of translating Adnan’s work for a UK audience.
